Dot NAME Domain Names

Introduced in 2001, the Dot NAME gTLD is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other designations people are popular by. At first, only 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you planned to acquire john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed third-level domains remained online.
